Food makes me Happy

One fine night while on  the dinner table with family slurping on exotic mom cooked Goa-n Fish Curry, Pomfret and Rice I asked them a question, "What is that one thing which makes you happy? You know one which automatically gets the Ting Smile on your face".
(Dictionary: Ting Smile: that smile on your face which also have sound effects in your brains preferably the tinggg kinda sound). 5 people on the table and 4 different opinions to ponder on well my dad n bro had the same opinion.

Dad and Bro said, 'Sleeping' Sound sleep is what makes them happy. It can even be Virus's 7 mins power nap (Ref: 3 Idiots). True ain't it? Imagine having a tiring and hectic first half at work and the 5 mins power nap on you desk in the lunch hour and you are geared up for the second half battle especially if it is 'The Monday'.

Next in queue was Mom. True to her nature and mom being mom she said, "Gold Souk mein mera Sukh hai" which translates as Gold Souk ( Souk is Arabic word for Market) holds my Sukh ( Marathi word for Satisfaction or Happiness).

Dad kept silent smiling to himself and mom kept staring at him hoping he would offer to take her right on to a gold shopping spree at 1:30 in the night. My brothers and me just kept giggling.

After mom it was my cousin brothers turn who melodramatically said, "Mom's love makes me happy". A touchy answer I know but no one can dare to debate on this one. I also troubled a friend of mine while writing this blog with the same question he also had a similar opinion. He found happiness at the thought of his home and mother's lap. Found peace and serenity along with happiness.

Anyways now it was my turn to answer at first I thought I might say, Writing. The conscious mind always told me writing made me happy. Well it does but it doesn't gets the Ting Smile.

At that night when the bottle nose pointed me and I realized looking at my yummy plate, Food makes me happy. Food gets the Ting effect to my senses.

Be it simple mom cooked Dal Rice or extra spicy Fish Curry, tangy Chat or sweet delicate Pastries, traditional local cuisines to international cheesy pastas-pizzas or gourmets. I enjoy vegetables even green leafy one's which most of the audience hates. You see, Popeye had a good impression on me with his love for spinach.

Thali or portion food, the view of a beautifully plated dish energies me instantly. Watching cookery shows, hearing them talk about food gives me a positive kick. While cooking also experiencing the salsa of the aroma and flavors is a yoga for my senses.

Hence I decided to combine my happiness. I decided to write and share the joy of food with my readers which I have enjoyed in past and will enjoy in the future as well.
